Sifting Through The Now: The Art Therapy Project

This is a virtual client exhibit held by the Art Therapy Project. The Art Therapy Project is a nonprofit mental health organization providing free group art therapy to adults and youth affected by trauma. Using the art-making process and with support from our art therapists, clients learn how to explore feelings, increase self-awareness and cope with life's challenges.

In ancient Greek, the root of the word crisis (krisis) means ‘to sift’ or ‘to separate.’ It speaks of a turning point, a decisive moment that shakes things up and forces us to choose what matters most. This deeper meaning of crisis asks us to explore and share what is most important to us as we navigate the continuously changing world we all find ourselves living in today. We are so excited to share with you the thoughts, feelings and expressions from our clients. Now, more than ever, we want to honor how each of our clients have worked in art therapy to sift through all the challenges, injustices and difficulties arising in the world, as well as the beauty, power and strength that their resilience allows them to hold.
